History of Helichrysum
In tiny towns throughout the Mediterranean region, the late-summer blooming of helichrysum is warmly greeted by local villagers who collect the small yellow flowers by hand. The unassuming shub has been dubbed “Immortelle” (or Everlasting) with good reason: The careful harvest of its treasured blooms has been carried out for centuries. In fact, the flower’s wellness-promoting value has been recognized since ancient Greece, where its properties were noted in the writings of Homer. Today, helichrysum remains an extremely valuable essential oil, with long-standing use in folk traditions.
